Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a treatment approach that works by “identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms."1 When we identify and hold eye positions associated with activation of memories and related symptoms, the mind can be guided to follow a course of processing to completion and relief. Bilateral sound is sometimes applied as an adjunctive technique to facilitate these effects. Brainspotting “works with the deep brain and the body through its direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the body’s central nervous system".2
